I’m locked in the studio painting away working on a thematic group of new paintings for a potential one-man show at a gallery!
While I didn’t sell art at my most recent foray into gallery shows, my work was well received. I really thought I was going to sell this piece, “Touch“, and I know there was some serious interest! I’m trying to get some work together for the gallery owner so I have something to show for him, as most of my work has left my possession soon after I have painted it. I’ve been in the studio working since August, working on a set of new paintings to replenish my stock.
This is not a bad problem I have I suppose!
So I’m working on new paintings that have the same thematic structure. I already know what the name of my one-man show is going to be called as well.
“Stolen Glances”.
The concept is that all my new paintings will be from a voyeuristic, casual, or intimate point of view – as if the viewers are cruising in some magical place where the viewer not only interacts with people in the space, the subject matter, but with their memories of their favorite sexual activities. I’ve been haunted by the words my friend and fellow erotic artist, Marc DeBauch, said to me shortly before I departed the dead bird social site. He said, “Make your new paintings as nasty as you can. The rest will fall into place.”
I have to say I trust him.
I have nearly five new paintings completed but I need a bunch more if I’m going to have a viable gallery show. Once, I have a solid set, I can have a dialog with the gallery owner and see if there is something meaty for an ambitious one-man show. I’m thinking there might even be gloryholes where you can view some of the art. I’m still working that idea out on how that could be fun and practical. It’s still in the rough stages but my magical intention is to make people want to cruise other men and look them in the eyes when they do it.
Stay tuned, true believers.
