The All-New Drubskin.com!

A lot has changed. I’ve had to figure out a lot of things.

I’ve had to make some hard choices but I think they the right things to do.

I’ve stopped doing commissions which I think will be better for me in the long run for my mental health. It’s not that I don’t like doing commissions, it’s just that I feel that I’ve lost myself somewhere and I need to get back to basics. I don’t want my expression through my work to be drowned out by somebody else’s fantasy or demands. My voice didn’t feel authentic on some of the last prints I created and I started to feel like these were chores instead.

Also, I’ve made the decision to stop the sale of all my art prints. If you have one, thank you! If you happened to get a print, the value should increase as long as you kept it in good condition and framed it with UV-protected plexi or glass and acid-free materials. Past that, you might see me post over on Mastodon some work here or there, but I’ve decided that my next big project is a book of collected works. Once this site is up and running again (if you are reading this – it’s happening!), I will be shifting focus to designing my book that I’ve tentatively titled “Filth!” My concept is a book of all my art I’ve done over the past 35 years, stories, pictures and recipes. What? I know… it could be really weird.

I’d like to do some more art shows too! There are a couple I’ve just submitted work to and I’m hoping to know more soon. I’ve made the Exhibitions page the place to go for a visual run-through of everything I’ve done of note in my career. I may eventually create pages for each show or publication, but right now it links to my creative CV and in there are some interesting links if you look thoroughly. On top of all that, I’ve been published in Dirty Minds Magazine and I’ve done some comics, so please check those out.

I turned 50 years old in August and I’ve decided to be a lot more honest than I ever have been in the past. I don’t have time for resentments, regret, anger, fear and dishonesty. I’ve done plenty and I need to cut it out.  I’ve been doing lots of work on myself and coupled with therapy, I may have just given myself a big gift. I’m doing some deep healing and shadow work. Besides, I have two daughters to raise. If you’re clever, you’ll find that page with my fur babies.

  1. Congrats on getting the new site up and running, and it’s nice that you’re figuring things out with your health and well-being.

Not gonna lie, a little sad you’re ending your art prints, but I’m so glad I’m now the proud owner of one. Thanks again for that.

    Glad to see you’re healing.
