Hapenstans – Art Show 2016

This is the first show I’ve been asked to take part in since moving here to San Diego. And I have to admit, I’m very excited!

Art Show - San Diego, November 12, 2016

I’m extremely pleased to be asked to participate in this shindig. I’m getting some framed art and my final, unique skateboard deck together for it. To put things in perspective, I was supposed to do a group show when I first moved here in 2003 at the Gay and Lesbian Center, but I was deemed to be “too controversial” because of the political ties The Center had and because I’d “upset lesbians”.

You’ll have to excuse the small bit of gloating I’m doing right now because the space for the event is held by one of my friends. Oh. Did I mention my friend is a very rad lesbian? Yeah. Suck it, San Diego Gay and Lesbian Center.

Ok. Now that that is out of my system. The show is to benefit for a dog, but don’t let that throw you. It’s also taking place in an amazing space with creative people, music, and performances. I’m going to doing something, along with several other artists, that I’ve never tried before… “live art”. I know. I’m still wrapping my head around it but I think I’m going to be drawing things on the fly with people around watching. Not just that, but I NEVER offer my pencil drawings for sale. I hold on to those for dear life. So if you get one, you’ll be one of the first people to ever get your hands on one.

So let’s recap: bands, music, $10 donation, art, live art, a cute dog named Jake, awesome people…

This takes place at: Hapenstans, 416 University Ave, San Diego, CA

Time: 5 PM

I really hope I can count on you guys to show up and have fun with us!
