Take five artists with five unique styles and what you get is always greater than the sum of its parts.
This summer, Galeria ARTopia is delighted to host a show curated by Albuquerque artist bobb NEOBOY maestas that features five artists, each of whom is an up and coming master of his or her medium.
Included in this show are:
- Ceramicist Mark Woody
- New York painter Scooter La Forge
- Assemblage artist Kenny Chavez
- Painter Linda York and
- San Diego punk artist Drub
- June 4 to July 31, 2004
Gala Opening / Show Hours:
- Friday, June 4, 5 – 9 p.m.
- Saturday, June 5, 11 am – 4 pm
- Wednesdays through Saturdays, 11 am – 4 pm
Fun was had by all the artists involved, much food and drink were consumed, and new friends were made. If you missed it, well, you just suck.
With the 4 other talented artists in the group show, Drub showcased 5 new pieces created specifically for this gallery. With constraints on subject matter, Drub explored the world of skaters – turning tricks… on their boards.
Four 13″x19″ pieces of skaters flying through mid-air, sweating and deftly moving their skateboards surrounded the centerpiece – a 3 foot by 5 foot poster installation of the 5th and final skater leaping through the sky hoping to land on an actual skateboard jutting from the wall! The poster is a one-of-a-kind piece which will now grace the wall of Drub’s bedroom in San Diego.
