My goal this week is to get two paintings done and I’m halfway to my goal I’ve set for myself.
The first one up is the cover to The Welcome Back Fuck comic, written by Dale Lazarov and drawn and now colored by me! For this project, I wanted to learn something a little different from my usual manner that I produce my pin-up fine art prints. The 9 page comic short story will be in full color and since it’s going to be a digital comic, I thought I would be clever by reintroducing that halftone dot pattern (known as Ben-Day dots) you might remember from newsprint and comic books growing up.
Here is the art for the cover, before I applied my Ben-Dot-ification process and subsequently the print that is for sale here. It’s not a literal translation of what’s in the comic but more of an aspirational metaphor of sorts that I’m sure will get some of you smiling.
The comic should be available at the end of the summer over at Dale’s site. Don’t worry, I’ll be crowing about it when the time comes, so you won’t miss a thing!
