It crossed my mind that people might want to see a bit of the process I go through to get to a finished piece. So I pose a question…
Would a sketchbook section, of just pencil drawings, be of interest to people out there? I’m thinking it would show the pencil drawing stage before things are firmed up before I go to inking the art in and way before I take it to the computer and start the “painting” aspects. I realized this last night, going over several pieces that never were more than pencil art and some that are ready to be scanned in.
I’m happy to take any ideas into consideration.
Also, I’ve been playing around with Sketchbook Pro since I have a tablet attached to my mac. It’s a bit of a departure as I’m so used to the tactile lead of the pencil skipping across the grain of the paper of bristol board. Right now, the sketching and thought that goes into something gestural to get to somebody quickly and bounce ideas off of is kind of exciting in it’s immediacy. I’m in the process of hammering out a zombie sketch for a friend. It’s not there yet, but it sure is helping figure out just what needs to be done without the psychological permanency that using paper brings.
What do you think? It was quick and not the final, but it’s a step in the right direction. It needs some more odd angles and a dynamic pose, but you can get up close to the electronic pencil marks if you really want to by click, click, clicking…

I’d love to see more! Especially past stuff!
Not only do I really like this pencil work, now I’m thinking fondly of your work as a tattoo…
If anyone gets a tattoo of my work, I love seeing it. Just FYI
Then I need to get on it. Now I won’t have **tons** of old stuff (pre-college) but I will have bits and bobs here and there. I just need to figure out if I should just post it here to the blog or make a whole new section.
Create a Tumblr stream (or two) and you can have it post here as well. Tumblr’s great for artist portfolio.
I was thinking about it. Seems to be really immediate, like Twitter.
I for one would love to see a section of just your pencil drawings on here. Of course I’m biased but I wish you did a lot more with pencil or even traditional paint. Nice as the computer generated images are I like the messy feel you get from seeing the pencil lines and smudges on the paper.
I think I need to figure out how to work that in
Several people have echoed that as well.
